5 years ago in 2012, C&S (Nantong) Electric Ltd. started an incredible journey in the land of the dragon-China. C&S (Nantong) Electric Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of C&S Electric Ltd. is located in Nantong city just 100 Kms away from Shanghai. The plant area is 4,474 Sqm with an initial investment of one million USD. C&S started its operation with dual objective of having a manufacturing base in China to serve mother plants in India, but mainly for building a base in the vast Chinese market.
There are several hundred Chinese companies making switchgear and controlgear products and the MNCs also have a very strong base build over the years because of their early start in China. But C&S decided to dare because of their large success & experience by exporting to 85 countries across the world & believing in their world-class products. As of today C&S Electric is the only Indian company in it’s field to have such an operation in China. C&S started the journey with just 5 people in 2012 that has grown to more than 70 people after 5 years.
“We were cautioned that there is a huge amount of local competition. But from our international experience we knew that there are only a handful of really good Chinese companies, with many hundreds of low quality operators. And also our US and European customers had factories in China which provided us the first entry into the market there.”
We started this journey slowly learning the market conditions. Gradually, our efforts, services and product quality got recognized by the best of Chinese and International customers operating in China. Today after completing 5 years, we have references from industry leaders; China’s largest hoist manufacturer, Crane maker, largest Solar PV player, biggest state owned Wind farm all approve and use C&S products.
C&S (Nantong) Electric Ltd. is the 100% owned subsidiary of C&S Electric Ltd. And it’s legacy of over 50 years of manufacturing world-class products in Indian market and exports to over 85 countries across the globe is being more and more recognized and appreciated in China.
C&S plans to keep it’s business and relationships growing within China and hopes to explore new heights coming years in this – the world’s largest market.
